Fly Fishing Vacations

October 26th, 2009

One of the best parts of living around so many rivers and tributaries is that fishing is a year-round activity here at our fly fishing lodge. If you are ready and willing to fish, we are ready and willing to bring you to the fish. Once you make it to the lodge, the fish aren’t far away.

Hard as it is to believe, we understand that fishing may not be everyone’s idea of the perfect vacation. If you love a person who fishes, bring that person here. While your partner communes with the moving water and the fish that swim in it, you may enjoy all that Livingston has to offer. Galleries, museums, shops, and fantastic restaurants await. Of course, there is also plenty of outdoor recreation around Livingston Montana that doesn’t involve fishing. The two of you can meet for dinner and share the day’s wonders, from the fish that got away to the cool exhibit at the Garre Fine Art Museum.

We hope you chose to spend your Montana fly fishing vacation here, with world class fishing just minutes away from the vibrant town of Livingston and some of the best outdoor recreation that Montana has to offer.

Livingston on the ‘best town’ list

June 20th, 2009

Livingston, Montana has been added as a ‘best town”!

If you’ve ever been to our little town of beauty this would come as no surprise.  With all the museums, art gallaries, excellent restaurants, fishing, rafting and boating, sight seeing, hiking, scenic drives and unique shopping experiences  in our area, even the locals find plenty to see and do!

Outdoor Life Magazine named Livingston, Montana as a “Best Town for Sportsmen” in the June/July 2009 issue.  Livingston was named 38th out of 200  U.S. cities. Evaluation and ranking was based on reserach and data important to hunters and anglers.

This newest honor comes only months after a survey conducted by Gallup Polls reported that people who live in the West are happier and healthier.

Montana ranked 12th out of 50 states in the ‘well-being’ index, 3rd ouf of 50 states in the ‘ healthy behavior’ index, 20th in the ’physical health’ index and 5th in the ‘emotional health’ index.  Check out the ‘work quality’ index –  5th out of 50 states!

Of course, we don’t take the credit.  We are blessed to live in these surroundings.  So we thank God for His creation then we sit back, relax and shake our heads in knowing wonder.  A little piece of paradise……

Livingston 4th of July Parade and Rodeo

May 24th, 2009

Home town celebration….that’s what the Livingston, Montana 4th of July event is. The best part  – it start July 2nd  and goes through the 4th.

The annual event begins July 2nd with several bbq’s in downtown Livingston and then the parade.  First Interstate Bank hosts a delicious free bbq, open to the community,  in their parking lot located next to the bank on Callendar and 2nd.

Plan to come early….the sidewalks fill up quickly for the parade!  You want to get a shady spot on 2nd or Main Street if possible.  So grab a free lunch and park your lawn chair or  fanny on the curb.

The  parade in Livingston is truly a hometown experience.  Marching, uniquely designed floats, local bands and music, mules and beautiful horses, Shriner clowns and even the fire department all come out for this event.  Heck, the town shuts down for the parade!!

The PRCA Livingston Round-Up Rodeo is every night at 8:00 p.m. with professional rodeo wranglers from all over the country.  It’s complete with the clowns, bull riding, bronco riding, barrel racing, roping and classy ladies who captivate you with  grace and beauty as they ride.

At the end of each evening, spectacular fireworks are displayed.  Of course at the cummulation of the rodeo on July 4th, the fireworks are at their best.  But the show is grand any night and you won’t be dissapointed.

If you can’t handle the rodeo (but I’m telling you, it’s a rich experience if you’ve never been), you can take in the fireworks from just about anywhere in Livingston.  Of course the closer you are to the Fairgrounds the better the view.

I’m completely serious when I tell you that we have visitors who come from all over the country for the events over the 4th of July. Livingston is abuzz with friendly faces, layed back attitudes and lots of glorious summer beauty. I mean, how can you beat the vibrant green landscape with the snow-capped purple mountains in the back drop?

If you are fortunate enough to be in Livingston for the 4th of July celebrations, stay long enough to take in a raft trip down The Yellowstone River or The Madison River or fish the rivers and streams. Take in Yellowstone National Park or head up over the Beartooth Highway for an incredible drop in temperature  (you’ll hit 11,000 feet) and some of the most beautiful phot ops you will ever see.

Whatever you do, plan your summer vacation to include the Livingston parade and rodeo.
